MANILA, Philippines — Fire struck a building in Quezon City at dawn Thursday and authorities suspected that 15 people, including the owner, died in the flames.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said it received a call around 5:30 a.m. about an ongoing blaze at a two-story building in Barangay Tandang Sora. It reached the first alarm at 5:44 a.m.

Barangay Captain Marlou Ulanday told Radyo Inquirer that employees and the establishment’s owner died in the fire while three people survived.

“Ayon kanina, may 15, 15 empleyado kasama ang may-ari […] tatlo ang nakasurvive,” Ulanday said.

(According to a report, 15 employees died, including the owner, […] while three people survived.)

Felix Apo, Team Leader of Tandang Sora’s Barangay Public Safety Officers, told INQUIRER.net that the establishment was printing designs on t-shirts. He also said the fire broke out around 5 a.m. on Thursday.

The BFP said the blaze was declared under control at 6:28 a.m. and extinguished at 8:04 a.m.

An investigation is ongoing to find out the cause of the fire.
