Integrity Building, Printed Image aim to help Hawaii wildfire victims with T

CHICO — Out of great tragedy comes great good.

The Printed Image in Chico and Integrity Building in Paradise are reaching out to help the victims of the horrible wildfire in Lahaina, Hawaii.

Ken Blanton, the owner of Integrity Building, dreamed up the fundraiser. He donated money to make T-shirts with the phrase “Lahaina Strong” to raise money for the victims of the fire and to help those who lost so much feel a bit better. He and volunteer Stephen Murray, who are both Camp Fire survivors, wanted to help and Blanton contacted Printed Image. Printed Image is printing the shirts and waived the cost.

Proceeds from the T-shirt sales will be donated to the Maui Strong Fund of the Hawaii Community Foundation.

Blanton has family in Hawaii. Murray is a longtime Paradise resident and helped Camp Fire victims.

One of the Printed Image’s customers, who owned a restaurant and general store called Fleetwoods on Front Street, lost their business in Hawaii.

Twelve-hundred shirts were sent to the fire ravaged area so far.

The shirts cost $15 and can be pre-ordered at printedimagechico.bigcartel.com. The fundraiser will go on as long as it is needed.

Anna Laursen, Printed Image’s office manager, and owner Scott Laursen are father and daughter. The fire in Hawaii affected them emotionally.

Both Laursens have employees who lost homes during the fire. They have visited Hawaii themselves many times so the fundraiser has tugged at their heartstrings.

“It hit close to all of us,” Scott Laursen said.

Printed Image has been around since 1980. The company does custom screen printing and embroidery and promotional items. The business can print on hats, shirts, jackets, water bottles, etc.
